Tuesday

Day Seventy-Seven....

A whole lot of activity and a few problems, but most things should be finished tomorrow (maybe)...  The cabinet makers are taking longer to finish the pantry than expected, but it looks quite good. The plumber is plumbing away to his usual standard. Two steps forward, one step back. He fitted the chrome pipes in the vanity well. Then he broke/dropped the top of the ceramic toilet.

The interior designer (Anna Spiro) linked this picture of our bathroom to her blog. She also said a few nice things about the house. Here's the link absolutely beautiful things

Monday

Day Seventy-Six....

The kitchen and bathroom were almost finished today. The stone masons did a great job with the marble. Just a few taps, drawers, lights (bathroom) and kitchen appliances (cook top) to be fitted.

Weekend....

All the furniture was moved upstairs without any incidents. But it could only stay in place for a day as plumbers, electricians, stone masons, cabinet makers, builders, lounge chair cleaner, interior designer and curtain makers are all on site in the next two days. So the newly polished floors needed to be covered and furniture moved.

And a picture of Stella.

Friday

Day Seventy-Five....

With the floors polished we can move back in. This is the pile of our heavy furniture we'll be moving back up stairs tomorrow.

Day Seventy-Four....

The floor polishers finished their work. Nice & shiny. Stella seems to approve.

Wednesday

Day Seventy-Three....

The first of the two 'top coats' were applied to the floor. Looks good. And what's a post without a picture of  Stella.

Day Seventy-One & Seventy-Two....

The floor polishers came in and started their work.On these two days the floors were rubbed down and some varnish was applied.

Weekend (two).....

This weekend we had to prepare everything for the floors to be polished. So all the furniture had to be moved, and stored under the house wrapped in a two tarp blanket to stop dust and floor varnish from soiling it.
The bookcases, built in cupboards, lights, curtains and the new kitchen benches need to be wrapped as well...

Weekend (one)....

Our electrician fitted a few lights. In the bedroom, library and two lights on the front verandah.

Saturday

Day Seventy....

After 9 weeks (5 weeks longer than expected), the door and window locks were finally installed. They look great, so I guess the wait was worth it. The heated towel rail and other similar fittings were also completed. The builders took their last remaining bits and pieces away. I guess their job is done.

Thursday

Day Sixty Nine....

The wallpaper went up in the toilet, powder room and pantry today. And the painter put the high gloss finishing touches to the kitchen/dining skirting boards and windows frames.
